Mantis Snacking

Close-up of a praying mantis perched on yellow flower buds, displaying its distinctive raptorial front legs and compound eyes in sharp detail.

This mantis is snacking on a Bumble bee. Preying Mantis can often be found waiting patiently on flowers, eagerly watching the pollinators and other insects fly by. When one comes within reach.... SNAP! They catch their prey with their sharp front claws.

This mantis was eyeing me as I took photos, jealously guarding his precious & hard earned dinner. Thankfully she let me take many photos and is quite photogenic!

This photo was taken in early fall in Omaha, Nebraska.
